These pictures are of Arthur Blanchett donating drafting instruments to George Buzyna. The instruments are circa 1945. Drafting was a required course at Erskin College in South Carolina at that time. The ink instruments are nibbed, meaning that they had to be filled from an ink well. The slide rule was the computer of the day. Dr Buzyna is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering. He teaches Computer Aided Design (CAD). The instruments will be used to demonstrate the evolution of drafting over a 50 year span.
